I have to be honest: I don't have enough going on right now to even be interesting to myself let alone to other people. But I know I haven't posted in the last couple of weeks and I really want to get back in the swing of things! So that being said...here we go.

It's been a good couple of weeks, we have seen movies: "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" (SO GOOD!) and "Doctor Strange" (Surprisingly good). We had Thanksgiving here in the U.S. which was nice. My mom comes over every year and makes me pudding. It sounds silly, I know, but I look forward to it every year. I wanted and planned on parking myself on the couch the day after Thanksgiving to watch the new "Gilmore Girls" episodes on Netflix but things got hectic and I still haven't had a chance to watch them. I am hoping to kidnap the TV this weekend and watch them.

And then there's knitting...or rather the lack of it. I have to be honest, I sort of knew when I started this sweater (and let's be honest...its a sweater vest), that I wouldn't finish it by the end of November and I was right. But I haven't been making as much progress as I would have hoped. But on a positive note it is progress and I haven't had to rip anything back or start over again so I am really psyched about that!! However, I do think plunking down with my Gilmore Girls will help me make significant progress. I thought I had this picture thing all worked out but apparently my tech illiteracy continues. I will try to post my tiny amount of progress to IG so be on the lookout!

So that's basically it. I can't complain though. Everyone is happy and healthy in our home but others in our family are not so fortunate so now its time to be there for them as much as possible.

I hope you are well and that everyone around you is too. Keep in touch...and thanks for visiting the Little House. Hugs all around :O)

But...I swatched!!!

I don't know about you, but I am not a swatcher. That being said I do understand the need for them. So when I decided to knit a sweater for the hubs I knew I needed to swatch and I did. I swatched, I washed I blocked, I measured and I got the gauge I needed. Then I busted out the needles and started knitting...and knitting...and knitting, and then I got nervous. The bottom of the sweater like most is ribbing and ribbing sort of scrunches in on itself; hats just part of its charm. But this looked like it was scrunching up TOO much, so I measured. I measured down and I came up short. I was using the wrong size needle and didn't realize it until nearly 7,000 stitches in....UGH! Sadly, this is not the first time this has happened. I did the same thing recently with a pair of socks. I'm not emotionally ready to recount this yet; it's just too soon. The up side to this sad story is: I didn't have the right needle size with a long enough cord so I was *forced* to run to a LYS on my lunch break and get some new ChiaoGoo's!!! And now for something completely different: it's Election Day and I voted. This feels like it has been the longest election season ever. I am glad it will finally be over soon. I am just going to plant myself on the couch and knit...not a sweater, but a lovely new coaster for my desk. Mindless knitting is about all I can do today. Hope all is well with you, keep in touch! Thanks for stopping by the Little House, happy knitting!

Where To Begin...Again

Beginnings are hard...there, I said it. If you have ever visited this page before you may know that this used to be the home of the Little House Knitts podcast. It may still be the home for the podcast again but I have decided to ease my way back into the game. If this is your first visit to the blog...welcome! Grab your knitting and make yourself comfortable. I had originally planned on just dismantling the whole page and being done with the blog and the podcast altogether; but I just couldn't do it. I just freaking love knitting. I love setting up a camera and talking to other people about knitting. I love watching other people who do the same thing! But I haven't done much of that in a while. a couple of years actually; and I have missed it...A LOT! I have missed all the wonderful people I had met while doing the podcast. I hope to see you all again. The short version is that depression sucks. That is oversimplifying things quite a bit but it gets to the heart of things. I am knitting again, I am knitting with a purpose again, I am starting to get a passion for things again and it is wonderful and scary at the same time. Oh, and I turned 40! Who let that happen?? So onto happier and knittier things...Its NaKniSwiMo!! I have decided to scare the crap out of myself and knit a **gasp** garment, and I couldn't be more scared. It's not even the knitting that scares me, it's the seaming. I have never been one who sews well. I hope I can change that for this project! I will be knitting the Dapper Moss Vest by Shirly MacNulty from the spring 2013 issue of Love Of Knitting. My husband has said he would like a nice vest for work. I will be knitting it out of Knit Picks Stroll Fingering in the Jack Rabbit Heather colorway. I don't have pictures yet, this is a new computer to me and I still trying to figure all this tech stuff out. UGH! So that is a brief update on me. I would love to hear how you have been and what is going on with you. Stop by the Ravelry group and say hello or just leave a comment below. Also, if you would be interested in seeing episodes of the podcast again, please let me know. I look forward to talking to you again soon!! Happy Knitting and thanks for stopping by the little house!!
